Kenilworth Ave shelving
These walnut shelves had to store a writer’s library of books, display important photographs, and keep toys out of sight. The existing slope of the ceilings were extended to create bookshelves that form triangular openings which relate to a print on the opposite wall by Emily Joyce.
Broom Way credenza and bedside tables
Another piece of furniture inspired by a print by Emily Joyce, this solid walnut credenza has leaf-shaped finger pulls similar in shape to the leaves in the print “Rousseau Walks”, and round brass pulls that echo the yellow eyeballs in the background. The coloured drawers might still happen…
Beds
We really enjoy designing ‘bedscapes’. They have storage under and around them, they are accessed by ladders and stairs, and sometimes they have hidden forts.
Rochester cabinets
Because these solid walnut cabinets were designed to hold audio equipment that can heat up, the doors have custom inset laser-cut metal screens, a decorative element that also complimented the Spanish style house.
Westridge shelving
Designed to maximize storage in a high den with a pitched roof, we built deeper storage on the bottom with drawers and rolling bins for toys, then mounted a rolling library ladder on top so the highest shelves could be reached. This unit also accommodates a TV and a drop-down table, and is made of lacquered multiply with grey-stained edges.
